Lola Rabbit is just like other little rabbits but she sees the world differently. Lola is Autistic. This means that sometimes Lola becomes afraid and upset when she hears loud noises, She often hums to herself and spins around to make herself feel better. Lola’s classmates don’t understand what being Autistic is like. It is confusing for the other children and Lola becomes very lonely.
But then Bourbon badger shows kindness that she has never felt before. Is this the start of a new friendship? Will her new friend show the rest of the class that being different is OK? And will his kindness help Little Lola to smile again?

This little gem arrived the day we went away and this morning I finally had the time and attention to give to this book.
What a thoughtful beautifully written and illustrated book. My daughter and I read the book together and we were both loved it. My daughter could identify with Lola and the difficulties she faced. What we particularly liked about it was the clear descriptions used to describe how Lola was showing her discomfort and the reasons why.
This book should be in every school and be on the must read list for teachers in early years. The information at the back was extremely informative and would help children and adults to have a greater understanding of Autistic children.
The packaging and extra bits added made the whole package a delight. I have bought this book for my grand daughter and as soon as this is posted I will be ordering a copy for my sons primary school.
I look forward to the next instalment.

My Autistic Daughter loves this book. It is the first of its kind that I have found. It is aimed at primary aged children, to help them to understand some of the differences Autistic children may face. Representation is SO important, & my daughter was able to personally identify with Lola rabbit. She was very excited, when she saw Lola was “Wearing Magic Ears just like me!” The illustrations of the book are stunning & the gentle pastel colours used, make this a lovely calming book to read. We now read it before bedtime most nights. We are eagerly awaiting the sequel & would highly recommend this book to all children, especially Autistic children, their siblings, families & schools.
Since purchasing my first book, I have now purchased a second, which I gifted to my daughter’s school at the end of term. The book has an amazing section in the back, written by professionals. This part has suggestions of questions & activities that could be carried out in a classroom type environment. My daughters teachers were thrilled with the book, & are very much looking forward to using it during the next academic year. It is such a wonderful tool to help teachers & their pupils understand Autism better, whilst also helping Autistic children to feel accepted, considered & understood.

Hello, I just wanted to say I got my book today and what I thought was really lovely was the lovely bag it came in, and the little pouch with sweets in and balloons!!
I read it to my 4 year old tonight, and my 9 year old with PDA was in her bed, but listening from a distance. I thought it was a lovely story, and really captured the essence of how school really is a very scary place for an autistic child. I also feel it was easy to relate to, as my daughter has that 1 special friend at school, like badger always makes sure she is ok, and there to give a hug if she wants it!!!
When I finished, I went into my eldest room and asked her if she listened to the story, she said yes, and I asked her if that’s how she feels at school, and she immediately she agreed.
I have to say, I can’t wait to read the next book, and tomorrow I am going to order the plush toy, pin and pre-order second story!!
Thank you, it’s books like this that are beautifully child orientated, that we need more of to educate those around us, especially the younger generation.
Take care
Laura ❤️

My 8 year old granddaughter loves this book, she hasn’t stopped talking about it since we read it. ‘Wow a teddy with autism, she could be my friend. Can I have the plushy toy Nanny’ This book reached her like no other, a huge hit! And the little touch with the sticker and sweeties and balloon made it so personal for her, she was thrilled. I’m so glad I bought it! xx
